Once upon a time...
Once upon a time in a galaxy far far away....
It's December 26, 1962, and I'm under my blanket with a flashlight at 8 pm reading The Secret of the Old Clock by Carolyn Keene. I received my very own copy of the first Nancy Drew series.
It's January 21, 1973, and I've just been named Administrative Librarian for the Dolton Public Library. I've worked there since I was 13 moving up the ranks from a page, to a clerk to a reference librarian. I'm 21 and the youngest administrator in the State of Illinois. I lived my days around over 50,000 books.
It's May 1978 and I've just heard Erma Bombeck give the commencement address for receiving my Masters of Library Science. I have been trusted with sharing books.
It's March 2002 and I'm an author. Mary Dee Wenniger and I have published Gender Equity or Bust! with Wiley, Inc. I'm an author!! I realize the enormity of putting words out into the world to change it.
It's March 24, 2017, and I'm an author again, a best selling Amazon author of Your Amazing Itty Bitty Retirement Book: 15 Essential Tips for You, the Nearly and Newly Retired. These words sought to comfort, to aid those beginning a new daring adventure. It's January 2, 2021, and I'm deciding again to write a book.
Books have been my life. Regardless of the chaos in my life, I could snuggle down with words to transport me to other places. It's this message I take as my heart dreams of how to author my life in 26 ways.
I begin the process by reminding myself it all began with a mystery book so long ago of a young woman searching. I feel like that now, what secrets of authoring a life will I discover.
Have books been the backdrop to your life as well?
What does it mean to author?
Hope you'll share some thoughts.
Hugs. Be Safe. You Matter. Mary Helen www.yourheartdreams.com
